15.05.07 — Wella Trend Vision Award
"A Guiseley hairdresser has proved she's head and shoulder above the competition by snipping her way into the national finals of hair styling competition.
Twenty-three-year-old Amy Thompson, who works for North For Men on Towngate, has beaten off competition from 700 other stylists to reach the final ot the Wella Professionals Trend Vision Award 07. She will now battle it out for first prize - including £1.000 worth of training, the British Cup and the chance to represent the UK at the international final in Barcelona - in London in October.

She said: "I wanted to get this far but I didn't know what to expect, I'm really thrilled to have done it."
Richard North, who with his wife, Lisa, runs the salon, said: "We're thrilled to bits and extremely proud of her. And she's the only one to have got to the finals using a male hair model as she worked hard to become a men's hair specialist."
The awards are aimed at highlighting emerging young talent in the profession."

14.05.07 — The Redken Urban Talent
Style Innovator
More success for our stylists as Hayley reaches the semi finals of The Redken Urban Talent Style Innovator regional finals.
Q: Why did you decide to enter?
Hayley: I liked the theme of urban talent. It matches the way I like to work. The thought of presenting my work to an audience of 600 people really appealed to me.
Q: What plans have you for next?
Hayley: I am keeping my eyes open for other competitions. I'll see what heads my way.
Although Hayley didn't make it to the finals, TV hairdresser Lee Stafford approached Hayley after the competition to tell her how talented she is and let her know how he thought this was just the beginning - it won't be the last we see of her on stage.

As our reputation and clientele grows, so does our team.
We are delighted to announce the arrival of our new member to the team — Amy Thompson. Once again, we have found a great hairdresser with the right attitude. She is determined to give North clients the high level of service they deserve.
Amy did her hairdressing training at respected salon group, Toni + Guy, and, in her test haircuts for North, has shown great creative flair. Interested in fashion, and at ease with clients of all ages, we think she will be a great addition to our team.
01.11.05 — Charity Shave Day
The team at North would like to thank you all for your generosity and support in helping our young customer, Miles Bradbourne.
The charity day was a great success, raising an amazing £2,455. There was such a nice feel to the day. We all really enjoyed it, and hope those who attended did as well.
It was nice to have Miles with us for a couple of hours. Naomi, his mum, was thrilled with the result and said, "it is a testament to your business and the type of clients you have."
We already knew that the best people came to North!
01.06.05 — New Stylist
After much searching we have at last found our new stylist - Hayley Kemm.
Hayley, 22, is a fantastic hairdresser who specialises in men's hair.
She trained at Toni and Guy where her enthusiasm was so great that she not only completed her diplomas in cutting and colouring with a credit, in half the usual time, but also won the title of Regional Junior Hairdresser of the Year.
Hayley has a keen interest in fashion, which teamed with her natural artistic ability means she has a range of contemporary hair cuts under her belt, including head tattooing. Her artistic talents have also lead to her holding makeover days and being a fashion stylist for a major clothing chain.
01.05.05 - American Crew - Menswork
In February 2005, Lisa attended the American Crew "Menswork" cutting course, an advanced course held over three days in the centre of Manchester.
American Crew has developed a technical method to cutting specifically masculine shapes, blending all the techniques from classic barbering and contemporary precision cutting to create a system solely for men.
Lisa spent 3 days looking at and discussing the most up-to-date men's styles for today and tomorrow and the techniques North would employ to achieve the desired effects.
After the course Lisa said "I love attending these courses. I always have a good time and learn absolutely loads as well as refreshing the techniques I've learnt on previous courses. Its always inspiring talking to other hairdressers and on my return I'm bursting to unleash my newfound talents on you lot!"
